"Kobutorijii-san to Ori" (Taisho-machi Street)

Overview

"Kobutorijii-san to Ori" (Taisho-machi Street) is one of five folklore-themed streets in Shijo City, Yamagata Prefecture. Located on Taisho Street, it runs from Shijo Station towards Mogami Park (Shijo Castle Ruins). The street features monuments and lanterns that tell the story of "The Old Man Who Removed His Lump." While strolling, visitors can read parts of the tale displayed along the street. The street is near the Ni-no-hori ruins, part of the castle grounds. Though the shopping street has seen better days, it offers a unique cultural experience.
