Asahidaira is located on the slopes of Mount Asahi, the main peak of the Daisetsuzan mountain range. A ropeway from Asahidake Onsen at the foot of the mountain provides easy access. Here, you'll find the Sugatami Pond and alpine flower gardens. It takes about two hours to hike from Asahidaira to the summit of Mount Asahi. The best time to visit is mid-July to early August to see the alpine flowers in bloom, or mid-September for the autumn foliage. Be prepared for changing weather conditions, as temperatures can vary greatly, even in summer.
