The Nippon Paper Industries Ishinomaki Mill in Ishinomaki City is a symbol of recovery from the Great East Japan Earthquake. While not a typical tourist spot, the mill's operational revival represents the city's resilience. Visitors can observe the factory's exterior and its prominent smokestacks from afar, particularly well-viewed from Hiyoriyama Park. Access is available by bus from Ishinomaki Station (15 minutes) or by car from the Sanriku Expressway's Ishinomaki Port IC (10 minutes). Tours are available by reservation, with applications accepted from one month in advance. Note that the factory is closed on Sundays, Saturdays, and holidays. Parking is available for large and standard-sized vehicles.
