Hiyoshi Shrine, also known locally as Sanno-san, is a historic shrine in Yanagawa, dating back to 1290. It was originally relocated from Hiyoshi Taisha Shrine in Omi and later became the guardian shrine of Yanagawa Castle. A notable feature is the large Otafuku mask displayed at the entrance from late December to early April, offering a unique photo opportunity. The shrine is a short walk from Yanagawa City Hall and features a serene atmosphere, making it a peaceful escape. Visitors can also see statues of the three wise monkeys and various animals on the grounds. The shrine is accessible by bus or rental bicycle from Yanagawa Station.
