Irohamatsu is a scenic row of pine trees located along the inner moat of Hikone Castle, near the Sawaguchi Tamon Yagura turret. Historically, there were 47 pine trees, named after the 47 characters of the Iroha syllabary. Planted approximately 300 years ago, these trees create a picturesque view, especially when reflected in the moat. Visitors can enjoy a leisurely stroll along the well-maintained path, taking in the beautiful contrast of the pine trees, stone walls, and Hikone Castle. The best time to visit is during the day to fully appreciate the scenery.
