Mogami Park, located a 15-minute walk from Shinjo Station, is the former site of Shinjo Castle, which served as the center of the domain government during the Edo period. Today, it's a popular recreational spot for locals and home to three shrines: Tozawa Shrine, Gokoku Shrine, and Tenman Shrine. The park is also famous for its cherry blossoms, with approximately 300 trees blooming in spring. Don't miss the Shinjo Kado-yaki Festival from April 29th to May 5th, where visitors celebrate the arrival of spring by grilling herring (kado) at special event venues within the park. The park features wheelchair-accessible restrooms and welcomes guide dogs.
