Shiri Yaki Onsen

Overview

Shiri Yaki Onsen is a unique hot spring experience located in Nakanojo, Gunma Prefecture. Its name comes from locals who once buried their posteriors in the sand for hemorrhoid treatment. The main attraction is the Nagsasawa River, where hot spring water bubbles up from the riverbed, creating a large, natural open-air bath. Visitors can dig their own personal hot spring pools in the riverbed. There's also a riverside open-air bath available. Be aware that using the river is at your own risk. It's best to visit during warmer months, but be cautious of slippery rocks and varying water temperatures.
