Lake Gassan is a man-made lake created by the Sagae Dam, nestled at the foot of Mount Gassan in Yamagata Prefecture. Known for its impressive Gassan Lake Grand Fountain, one of the largest in the world, which shoots water up to 112 meters high hourly from April to November. Visitors can enjoy scenic views of the surrounding mountains, especially beautiful during the autumn foliage season. The lake is also a popular spot for fishing, offering a variety of fish species. Located along National Route 112, it's easily accessible by car and offers a relaxing rest stop with picturesque scenery.
