Ryugo-ji Temple, located a 10-minute walk from Akechi Station on the Akechi Railway, is a serene temple of the Myoshinji school of the Rinzai sect. Established in 1596 by Toshikage Toyama, the lord of Akechi Castle, it has since served as the Toyama family's temple. The temple grounds feature the graves and memorials of the Toyama family, including Kin-san of the Toyama clan, and a memorial tower for Mitsuhide Akechi. The temple offers scenic views from its elevated position, making it a worthwhile stop while exploring the Akechi area.
