The Goshikinuma Nature Trail offers a mesmerizing hiking experience through a series of vividly colored ponds and lakes formed by a volcanic eruption in 1888. Located in the Urabandai region of Fukushima Prefecture, the 3.6km trail winds past eight distinct ponds, each displaying unique hues of emerald green, cobalt blue, and turquoise, depending on the mineral composition and weather conditions. The well-maintained path is suitable for beginner hikers, though sturdy footwear is recommended. Accessible year-round, the trail is particularly stunning during the autumn foliage season. Parking is available at either end of the trail, with convenient bus services connecting the trailheads. Allow approximately 1.5 to 3 hours to fully enjoy the scenic beauty and capture memorable photos.
