The Osagawa Tunnel, constructed in 1884, is one of Shiga Prefecture's oldest road tunnels, located along the former Tokaido Road in Konan City. This historic stone-built tunnel offers a glimpse into the past as you pass through what was once a raised riverbed. The tunnel is narrow, requiring vehicles to take turns, and it's known for its cool interior. Above the tunnel stands the Kobo Cedar, said to have been planted by Kobo Daishi. It's a worthwhile stop while exploring the old Tokaido Road.
