The Funaoka Peace Kannon is a 24-meter-tall statue located in Funaoka Castle Ruins Park in Shibata, Miyagi Prefecture. It was built in 1975 to honor the deceased wife of Tokusaburo Noguchi and to pray for world peace. Visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and the surrounding area from the park, especially beautiful during the spring cherry blossom season. The statue is a 15-minute walk from Funaoka Station on the JR Tohoku Main Line. Note that the interior of the Kannon is currently closed to the public.
