The Hokkokukaido Ando House in Nagahama is a preserved traditional merchant house offering a glimpse into the area's rich history. Located along the historic Hokkokukaido street, a short walk from JR Nagahama Station and near Kurokabe Square, this well-preserved building showcases the architecture and lifestyle of a prominent local family. Originally the home of one of the ten citizens appointed by Toyotomi Hideyoshi to govern the town, the house features notable works by artist Rosanjin Kitaoji, including calligraphy and interior designs. Visitors can explore the main building and admire the beautiful garden. Open to the public with a small admission fee, the Ando House provides a serene escape into Nagahama's past.
