Jigokudani Onsen is famous for its snow monkeys bathing in the hot springs. Located a 30-minute walk from Kanbayashi Onsen or a 10-minute drive (winter closure) plus a 10-minute walk from Shibu Onsen, it's home to the Jigokudani Monkey Park. The "Shibu Jigokudani Funsen," a geyser erupting from the Yokoyu Riverbed, is a designated natural monument. Best visited in the snowy winter months to see the monkeys enjoying the warm waters. Note that reaching the onsen involves some walking through mountain trails.
