Kai Zenko-ji Temple, established by Takeda Shingen, offers a serene escape with historical significance. Fearing the destruction of Shinano Zenko-ji during the Battles of Kawanakajima, Shingen relocated Buddhist statues and scriptures here. The main hall, one of Eastern Japan's largest wooden structures, is a nationally designated Important Cultural Property. Visitors can explore the temple grounds, admire the architecture, and experience the unique 'crying dragon' phenomenon and the dark passage of the 'kaidan meguri'. Located in Kofu, Yamanashi, it's accessible by bus or a short walk from Kofu or Zenko-ji Station. Open year-round, it's a peaceful retreat suitable for all ages.
