Kasumigaura City Museum of History

Overview

The Kasumigaura City Museum of History, with its distinctive castle-like exterior, is located in Kasumigaura City, Ibaraki Prefecture, a 30-minute drive (15 km) from Tsuchiura Kita IC on the Joban Expressway. The museum features exhibits on local history and culture, including models of hobikibune (sail-rigged fishing boats) and folk materials. The fourth floor offers a panoramic view of Lake Kasumigaura and surrounding castle ruins. Admission is ¥220 for adults, with discounts for groups of 20 or more, and ¥110 for junior high and elementary school students. A combination ticket with the nearby aquarium is available. The museum is a good option to combine with a visit to the nearby aquarium, forest park, or Ayuzaki Park.
