Oarai Coast, famed in the Japanese folk song "Iso-bushi," is a popular tourist destination year-round. Easily accessible from Oarai Station via the Kaiyu-go loop bus or a 15-minute drive from the Mito-Oarai IC, the coast stretches for 10 km and offers scenic views of the Pacific Ocean. Visitors can explore rocky shores, spot the iconic Kamiiso Torii gate standing against the waves, and enjoy beachside strolls. Note that the beach is not ideal for swimming due to the rocky terrain. The best time to visit is during sunrise to see the torii gate silhouetted against the rising sun. Parking is available for a fee during the swimming season.
