The Shinjō Hometown History Center is a cultural hub showcasing Shinjō City's history, festivals, and folk traditions. Located a 15-minute walk from Shinjō Station and a short drive from the Shinjō-Kita IC, the center features the Float Exhibition Hall, displaying two outstanding floats from the Shinjō Festival. Visitors can also explore special memorial rooms dedicated to Okuyama Mineishi, a Living National Treasure known for his metalwork, and the painter Zenjiro Chikaoka. The basement houses the Yukiguni Folk Museum, exhibiting approximately 10,000 folk items, offering a glimpse into the lives of people in snow country. The center is equipped with barrier-free facilities, including wheelchair-accessible restrooms and ramps.
