The Former Tainoura Church, located in Shin-Kamigoto Town, is a historical landmark easily accessible by a 10-minute drive from Arikawa Port or a short walk from the Nakano bus stop. Originally built in the Meiji era, the church's bell tower was later constructed using salvaged bricks from the Urakami Cathedral after the atomic bombing. Today, the former church serves as a library and museum, offering visitors a unique opportunity to explore its beautiful ribbed vault ceiling and the Lourdes grotto on the grounds. Unlike many churches in the Goto Islands, photography is permitted inside. Don't miss the poignant "Taka no Su Rokunin Giri" monument, a reminder of local history. It's a peaceful place to reflect on the region's Christian heritage.
