Uga Shrine, located on Biwa Island in the middle of Lake Nojiri in northern Nagano Prefecture, offers a unique and mystical experience. Access to the island is exclusively by tour boat or private boat, with a 10-minute boat ride from the shore. Note that the Nojiri Lake tour boats may sometimes bypass the island, so a private boat guarantees access. Once on the island, a stone staircase lined with cedar trees leads to the shrine. The shrine itself is nestled in a forest, creating a serene and spiritual atmosphere. You can purchase charms from the shrine maiden.
