Located on the summit of Mount Haguro within the Dewa Sanzan Shrine grounds, the Dewa Sanzan History Museum showcases the rich history and cultural heritage of the Dewa Sanzan mountains. Originally established in 1915 as a treasure hall for the Dewa Sanzan Shrine, the museum features a collection of artifacts related to Shugendo practices, including 190 bronze mirrors excavated from Mirror Pond, designated as Important Cultural Properties. Visitors can also view Buddhist statues and ancient documents related to Matsuo Basho. The museum offers a glimpse into the syncretic religious practices and the spiritual significance of Dewa Sanzan. Open from April to November (closed on Thursdays, except July and August). Admission is ¥300 for adults.
