Former Takahashi Jinjo Higher Elementary School Main Building

Overview

Located a 10-minute walk from Bitchu-Takahashi Station, the Former Takahashi Jinjo Higher Elementary School Main Building is a preserved Meiji-era wooden schoolhouse now serving as the Takahashi City Museum of Local History. Built in 1904, this Western-style building showcases local life from the Edo to early Showa periods with over 3,000 items on display. Don't miss the impressive double-coffered ceiling in the second-floor auditorium. Open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (October to April until 4:00 PM), it's a great way to experience Takahashi's history and architecture. Closed from December 29th to January 3rd. Admission is ¥400 for adults and ¥200 for junior high and elementary school students.
