Sazae-do Temple, located in Aizuwakamatsu, Fukushima Prefecture, is a unique three-story hexagonal structure renowned for its double-helix staircase. Built in 1796, this architectural marvel allows visitors to ascend and descend without ever crossing paths, offering a safe and fascinating pilgrimage experience. Originally designed to house the 33 Kannon statues of the Saigoku pilgrimage, it's now a designated Important Cultural Property. The temple is a 15-minute walk from Aizuwakamatsu Station.
