The Married Couple Cedars are a unique natural attraction along the Jomon Sugi hiking trail in Yakushima. These two ancient Japanese cedar trees stand close together, with their branches fused high above, resembling a pair holding hands. Estimated to be 1,500 to 2,000 years old, the trees offer a heartwarming sight and a brief respite for hikers on their way to Jomon Sugi. Located a short distance from Daio Sugi, the Married Couple Cedars are easily identifiable by a sign along the trail. The best time to visit is during daylight hours while trekking to Jomon Sugi.
