The Hoshitoge Rice Terraces in Tokamachi, Niigata, are a photographer's dream, especially during the water-filled season when the paddies reflect the sky like mirrors. These terraces, part of the "100 Best Villages in Japan," offer stunning views that change with the seasons, from lush green summers to snow-covered winters. Visit in the early morning for a chance to see a sea of clouds. Remember to respect the farmers' land by staying out of the fields and adhering to posted rules. Access is via the Hokuhoku Line to Matsudai Station, then a 20-minute drive. Parking is available, but can be crowded, especially during peak seasons.
Parking: 20 spaces for standard cars, 1 space for large vehicles. *Please note that it gets very crowded during the water mirror season (especially early morning).
