Daishoji Temple, popularly known as Kameoka Monju, is home to one of Japan's three most significant Monju Bosatsu statues, said to have been brought from China over 1400 years ago. Revered as a deity of wisdom, it attracts students and those seeking academic success from across the country. Visitors can drink from the "Tone Water" spring behind the main hall, believed to bestow wisdom. The temple grounds also feature a matchmaking Kannon and historic structures like the bell tower and statues of the sixteen Arhats. Located in Takahata, Yamagata Prefecture, the temple is a 7-minute taxi ride from Takahata Station on the JR Yamagata Shinkansen.
