The Shogawa Great Buddha, established in 1932, serves as a memorial to 100,000 deceased believers. This 10-meter-tall Buddha, while made of concrete, features a striking green color that gives it a unique and slightly surreal appearance. Visitors often find its design charming and amusing, with surrounding statues of green goblins, red lions, and chickens adding to the quirky atmosphere. Located in the town of Shogawa, it's accessible by bus from Takaoka Station (55 minutes to Shogawa Chuo, then a 5-minute walk) or a 10-minute drive from the Tonami IC. This is one of the three great Buddhas of Toyama Prefecture.
