Discover Hisuien Garden in Itoigawa, Niigata, a stunning 17,000 square meter circular garden designed by Kinsaku Nakane, known as the "Showa's Kobori Enshu". This elegant garden features three waterfalls, ponds, and streams set against a backdrop of pine forests. A highlight is the 70-ton cobalt jade stone at the entrance. Enjoy seasonal beauty with plum blossoms in spring, lush greenery, azaleas, moss in the rainy season, and vibrant autumn foliage. Note that the Hokuriku Expressway nearby can create some noise. Accessible by bus from Itoigawa Station or a short drive from the Itoigawa IC. Consider renting a bicycle from the station for a scenic route.

About landscape architect Kinsaku Nakane: Kinsaku Nakane (1917-1995) ・Born in Iwata City, Shizuoka Prefecture. ・Graduated from Tokyo Gardening School (now Tokyo University of Agriculture). ・Created numerous gardens both domestically and internationally, including the dry landscape garden at the Adachi Museum of Art. ・Received the Order of the Sacred Treasure, Third Class, in 1994. ・Designed Hisuien Garden in 1978 and Gyokusuien Garden in 1981.
