Mio Shrine, also known as "Rabbit Shrine," is located near Mii-dera Temple in Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture. This shrine is dedicated to the rabbit, with rabbit motifs found throughout the grounds, including the crest, water basin, and roof tiles. The main hall, designated as an Important Cultural Property, was rebuilt by Ashikaga Yoshimochi in 1426 and later restored by Toyotomi Hideyoshi. It's believed that Izanagi-no-Mikoto, the main deity, appeared from the east in the year, month, day, and hour of the rabbit, hence the connection to rabbits.
