Senkan Matsushima is a scenic spot located on the Uradome Coast, a designated National Site of Scenic Beauty and Natural Monument. It's accessible by bus from Iwami Station, followed by a short walk. The name "Senkan Matsushima" (meaning "worth a thousand kan of silver") comes from a tale of a feudal lord who offered a large sum to anyone who could transplant the pine-covered rock to his garden. The current pine is the second generation. The site features a large, tunnel-like rock formation with a pine tree growing on top, sculpted by the rough waves of the Sea of Japan. It's a highlight of the Uradome Coast and offers stunning views, especially from the sea or along the nature trails.
