Mikuni Shrine, also known locally as "Osan no San (Sanno-san)," is a significant shrine located on the southern foot of Mt. Sanno in Mikuni. Dedicated to Oyamakui-no-Mikoto and Emperor Keitai, the 26th emperor who governed Echizen Province, the shrine boasts an impressive two-storied gate, one of the largest in the prefecture. The shrine is a 10-minute walk from Mikuni-Jinja Station on the Echizen Railway Mikuni-Awara Line. The grand Mikuni Festival, one of the three major festivals of Hokuriku, is held here annually. Visitors can explore the shrine's grounds and the surrounding town, where traditional floats are stored in unique storehouses.
