Overview

Explore Kawasaki-shuku, a former post town on the Tokaido road during the Edo period, now part of Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture. While few original buildings remain, the area commemorates its history with Ukiyo-e prints on buildings and historical markers along the old Tokaido route (now Isago Street). Visit the Kawasaki-shuku Exchange Center to learn more about the town's history and see recreations of old shops. The best time to visit is during the day to explore the historical markers and local shops. Although most of the original structures are gone, the area offers a glimpse into the past through art and historical information.
