Aoshima, also known as Cat Island, is a small island in Ehime Prefecture, accessible by a 45-minute ferry ride from Nagahama Port. This unique destination, featured in the novel "Botchan," is famous for its large population of friendly cats and offers visitors a chance to interact with them in a natural setting. The island itself is approximately 4km in circumference and also provides opportunities for fishing and clam digging. Be sure to bring your own food and drinks, as there are no shops or vending machines on the island.
