Visit the former residence of Ino Tadataka, the renowned cartographer who created the first accurate map of Japan. Located in Sawara, Katori City, Chiba Prefecture, this historic building complex consists of a shop and main house facing the Ono River. Explore the traditional merchant-style architecture where Tadataka lived from age 17 to 50 before embarking on his mapping career. The site includes a store, main house, water canals, and a storehouse. Open to the public since October 11, 2014, admission is free. It's an excellent spot to experience the atmosphere of a prosperous merchant's home during the Edo period.
