Established in 1585, the area features well-maintained merchant houses from the late Edo and Meiji periods. Visitors can explore preserved residences like the former Nishikawa Shohaku House and the Ban Shoemon House. Located about 2 km north of JR Omihachiman Station, the street offers a glimpse into the lives of successful Omi merchants. The Omihachiman City Museum is also nearby, displaying local artifacts. It's best to visit during the afternoon to fully appreciate the architecture and atmosphere.
