Explore the Oyama Burial Mounds, a significant archaeological site in Sabae, Fukui Prefecture, dating from the Yayoi to the Kofun periods. These mounds, once the burial grounds of influential villagers, offer a glimpse into Sabae during the Yamatai Kingdom era. Located a 10-minute walk from Sabae Station and a 10-minute drive from Sabae IC, the site features approximately 50 burial mounds scattered across a small hill. While the area includes a cemetery and the paths to the top may be unclear, the Oyama Burial Mounds are a nationally designated historic site, providing a unique historical experience. Best visited during the warmer months when snow isn't covering the mounds.
