The National Treasure Rurikoji Temple Five-Storied Pagoda, completed in 1442, is a stunning example of mid-Muromachi period architecture and a highlight of the Ouchi culture. Standing at 31.2 meters, this elegant pagoda is considered one of Japan's three most famous pagodas. Located in Kozan Park in Yamaguchi City, it's easily accessible by bus from Shin-Yamaguchi Station or by car via the Chugoku Expressway. Note that the pagoda is currently undergoing major renovations until spring 2026, but the surrounding Kozan Park offers other attractions, including the graves of the Mori family and the Nightingale Floor. The best time to visit is during spring or autumn to enjoy the surrounding natural beauty.
