The Shiga Prefectural Peace Memorial Hall in Higashiomi City offers a poignant look at the impact of war on the people of Shiga Prefecture. Located a 10-minute drive from Yokaichi IC on the Meishin Expressway, or a 20-minute bus ride from Yokaichi Station, the museum is easily accessible. Through personal stories, artifacts, and records, visitors can gain a deeper understanding of the experiences of those who lived through wartime, including accounts of evacuation and the grief of families. The museum is open from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM, but closed on Mondays and Tuesdays (open if a holiday) and from December 28th to January 4th. It provides an educational environment for all ages to reflect on peace.
