Henshoji Temple, also known as Kuzu-dera (Arrowroot Temple), is temple number six on the Nagatoro Pilgrimage of Seven Herbs. While the temple grounds themselves are small, Henshoji is famed for its stunning display of arrowroot flowers, which bloom in vibrant reddish-purple hues. The best time to visit is from mid-August to early September when the arrowroot is in full bloom. Be aware that reaching the temple involves a steep mountain path, making it the most challenging of the seven herb temples. Alternatively, a narrow road leads closer to the temple, but it may be difficult to navigate and is sometimes closed due to wasp activity. Please note that the temple is located at: 2323 Nogamigeigo, Nagatoro-machi, Chichibu-gun, Saitama Prefecture.
