Okazaki-juku was a significant post town on the Tokaido road, offering travelers a place to rest and resupply. While modern development has transformed much of the area into a bustling commercial district, remnants of its historical past can still be discovered. Visitors can explore sections of the original "Twenty-Seven Curves" (Okazaki Nijūnan Magari), a series of winding roads designed to slow down potential attackers of Okazaki Castle. Look for stone markers and monuments that narrate the town's history, including the former site of the Nishihonjin (West Headquarters) and traces of the tea ceremony processions. Although not a preserved historical district, Okazaki-juku provides glimpses into its Edo-era heritage for those willing to explore.
