Hakucho Bridge

Overview

The Hakucho Bridge, one of East Japan's largest suspension bridges, spans 1380 meters with main towers reaching 139.5 meters. Opened in 1998, this toll-free bridge is part of National Route 37 and is exclusively for vehicles. Visit at night to witness its stunning illumination, where the bridge glows in Swan White, creating a beautiful contrast with the lights of the industrial area. The bridge can be viewed from various vantage points in Muroran, including the roadside station and nearby parks. It's a must-see landmark, especially enchanting during the evening light-up, powered by wind turbines. Be cautious of strong crosswinds while driving across the bridge.
