The Nakasendo Torii Pass, located in Kiso, Nagano Prefecture, offers a journey through history and nature. This challenging section of the old Nakasendo trail features an elevation of 1,000 meters and was once considered a difficult passage. Visitors can hike the old mountain path, enjoying views of Mount Komagatake and the surrounding landscape. The summit features the Torii of Ontake Shrine, a place for distant worship of Mount Ontake. Be prepared for a steep climb and consider wearing trekking shoes for the rocky terrain. Remember to ring the bear bells along the trail.
