The Steyl Missionaries Tajimi Monastery, established in 1930 by Father Mole of the Catholic Steyl Missionaries, serves as the central monastery for the Japan Province. Located in Tajimi, Gifu Prefecture, this European-style monastery features picturesque vineyards where wine is produced. Visitors can explore the grounds, view the beautiful architecture, and, if available, purchase wine and cookies made by the monks. Note that the chapel may be closed during wedding ceremonies and mass is held on Sunday mornings. Group tours require advance booking. The monastery is accessible by bus from Tajimi Station.
