Visit the majestic Tsukazaki Big Camphor Tree, a natural monument located a short 15-minute walk from JR Takeo Onsen Station, near the Takeo Cultural Hall. Estimated to be between 2,000 and 3,000 years old, this ancient tree is the 3rd largest in Saga Prefecture and 53rd largest nationwide. Despite damage from a lightning strike in 1963, the tree still boasts a height of 18 meters and a trunk circumference of 13.6 meters. Explore the hollow within the remaining trunk and imagine its former grandeur. The surrounding area was once the site of Tsukazaki Castle, adding historical significance to this serene and mystical spot.
