Okama Shrine, located a short walk from Hon-Shiogama Station on the Senseki Line, is a branch shrine of Shiogama Shrine. It's known as the guardian deity of Shiogama, enshrining Shiotsuchi Old Man God. The shrine is famous for its four sacred kettles, said to be linked to the origin of Shiogama's name and used in ancient salt-making. Visitors can view the kettles for a small fee. Don't miss the annual Moshioyaki Shinji ritual in July, which recreates ancient salt production methods. The shrine also offers blessings for long life, safe childbirth, and maritime safety. It's a small, historically significant site easily visited in conjunction with Shiogama Shrine and local attractions like the Urakasumi sake brewery.
Other Benefits: Longevity, Safe Childbirth, Maritime Safety
