The Former Yakage Waki-Honjin Takakusa Family Residence is a preserved building that once served as a backup honjin (official lodging) in the Yakage post town. Selected for its robust architectural style featuring white walls and tiled roofing, the Takakusa family, who were local money exchangers and village headmen, occupied this residence. Located 400 meters from the main honjin, it is designated as a National Important Cultural Property. Visitors can appreciate the contrast of its white walls and tiled roofs. It's about a 20-minute drive from the Sanyo Expressway Kamo Wake IC and an 8-minute walk from Yakage Station on the Ibara Railway. Note that the building is only open to the public on weekends.
