Henjo-ji Temple

Overview

Henjo-ji Temple, originally moved from Yoshida Village to Kasaoka in the late Kamakura period by the Toyama clan, is a Shingon Buddhist temple. While the temple was relocated in 1977 due to urban redevelopment, its historic pagoda, dating back to 1606 and designated as an Important Cultural Property, and a 400-year-old ginkgo tree remain at the original site near Kasaoka Station. The current temple grounds feature a striking main hall and gate. Visitors should note that the pagoda is separate from the main temple complex. It's a peaceful place to explore a bit of history while in Kasaoka.
