Kasumi Shrine, established in 1815 by the lord of the Shimazu clan, is renowned both within and beyond Miyazaki Prefecture as a shrine dedicated to the white snake deity. While visitors once ascended a long staircase from the first torii gate, the path is now partially paved, allowing access by car. Revered as a god of business prosperity, animal husbandry, and matchmaking, the shrine has long been a center of faith for the common people. Legend says that a white snake dwells in the grotto behind the main hall, and seeing it is believed to bring good fortune. Located in Takaharu, it's a 10-minute drive from the Takaharu Interchange. The shrine offers refreshing mountain views and a serene atmosphere.
