Wakamatsu Temple, also known as Wakamatsu Kannon, is a historic Tendai Buddhist temple founded in 708 AD. Revered as a power spot for matchmaking, it's said that shaking hands with the head priest brings good fortune in relationships. The temple grounds feature the Kannon-do Hall (a nationally designated Important Cultural Property) and a scenic overlook with views of Tendo City. Located in the mountains east of Tendo, access is best by car, though the roads can be narrow. The temple is also the first stop on the Mogami Thirty-Three Kannon Pilgrimage.
