Explore the historic Kanjizaio-in Ato, the temple grounds established by the wife of Fujiwara no Motohira, the second ruler of the Northern Fujiwara clan. Though the original buildings are gone, the site has been restored as a scenic park centered around the Motsuji Temple's Jodo Garden. Located a short 7-minute walk from Hiraizumi Station and next to Motsuji Temple, this tranquil site offers a glimpse into the Heian period with its meticulously maintained gardens and historical significance. Best time to visit is during the cherry blossom season to see the gardens in full bloom. Admission is free, making it an accessible cultural experience.
